By accessing or using seattlebreaking.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Nature of the Site
Seattle Breaking displays publicly available dispatch information from the City of Seattle's open data portal, categorized and visualized for convenience. The Site is an independent news aggregator and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the City of Seattle, the Seattle Fire Department, the Seattle Police Department, or any other government agency.
2. Not an emergency service
The Site is not a substitute for 911 or any emergency service. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 immediately. Information on the Site may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect, and should never be relied upon for decisions that affect personal safety.
3. Data accuracy
Dispatch data is sourced from upstream City of Seattle datasets and is provided "as is." We make no warranties as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information shown. Addresses displayed are approximate and are drawn from the source data; they should not be treated as authoritative. The Site may occasionally show incidents that were subsequently reclassified, cancelled, or determined to be false alarms.
4. No personal identifying information
The Site does not publish names of individuals involved in incidents. If you believe information on the Site identifies a specific person in a way that should be redacted, please contact us at the address below.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site or its data for harassment, stalking, or any activity that targets individuals.
- Scrape, bulk-download, or republish the Site's content in a way that overwhelms our servers or violates the terms of the upstream Seattle Open Data license.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site's operation.
6. Intellectual property
Source dispatch data is in the public domain and made available by the City of Seattle under the Seattle Open Data Policy. The design, code, and categorization logic of the Site are © Seattle Breaking. You may link to the Site and share individual incident pages; please contact us for any other reuse.
7. Advertising
The Site displays third-party advertisements through Google AdSense and other ad networks. We do not endorse advertised products or services and are not responsible for their content.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seattle Breaking and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Site or its information.
9. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
